Planning to host a Teen Dance Party?  If so, consider these 5 Tips.
  1. Tip #1- Recognize that teenagers are growing up fast and that some may be tempted to experiment with alcohol. It must be made clear up front by the hosts that alcohol will not be tolerated, period.
  2. Tip #2- Establish your guest list by quantity and quality. The guest list should be comprised of a close knit inner circle of friends and family members who realize how special this day is and who would not engage in behavior that will ultimately ruin the party.  "Fringe Friends" who are not part of the inner circle should not be invited or permitted to attend.
  3. Tip #3- Do not allow teenagers to bring water bottles to the party as they are clever, sometimes filling these canisters with vodka.  Teens should also not be permitted to leave the building until the party concludes.
  4. Tip #4 - Be proactive and consider utilizing a security officer provided by the facility and/or recruit a family member or trusted friend to keep a watchful eye as this will be an effective deterrent for unwanted behavior.
  5. Tip # 5- Rhythm on the dance floor has evolved and with this, "bumping and grinding" has become a fad among some teens.  Use your discretion as to whether or not or to what extent this will be permitted as this could reflect poorly upon the family.

Most importantly, keep it safe and classy and you will have a memorable Teen Dance Party!
